KOKANKADA from Belpada

About Harishchandragad-

Location- Sahyadri Balaghat Mountan range – Tal. Akole, Dist.
Ahemadnagar. (Eighteen miles south-west of Akelo).

Height – 1424 M

About five paths lead up to the hill two of which from Pachnai and
Kotul can be regularly used by older days. The hill top, which is about three
miles in diameter, is an irregular tableland.

Routs
to reach to Harishchandragad
From Khireshwar- Tolarkhind

Grade – Moderate

Regular way used by trekkers is from Khubi phata next to malshej
ghat. Khubi phata – Pimpalgaon joga dam wall – Khireshwar – Tolar Khind –
Harishchandragad.

From khubi phata,  one has
to take a 4-5 km walk on the wall of the dam called Pimpalgaon Jiga dam. The
dam ends at Khireshwar village, and from here onwards a straight route trail
goes towards Tolar khind. Around 1.5 hours are required to reach till Tolar
khind from Khireshwar village. The end of the khind has a stone carving of a
Tiger. After the khind, is a 100 feet easy rock patch, which has iron railings
for the safety of trekkers. The climb on the rock patch then leads a straight
way to Harishchandreshwar temple it took 1 hour, with small hills & streams
in between.

From Khireshwar- Rajmarg

Grade- Difficult

Khubi phata – Pimpalgaon joga dam wall – Khireshwar – Nageshwar
Temple- Balekilla – Harishchandragad

Rajmarga was the main route to ascend Harishchandragad a old age,
but currently in bad condition,. This route follows the same path till
Khireshwar village. From here, must go along the straight path and start
ascending on the slopes of Kalshya dongar from the back side of Nageshwar
Temple. The cliff that comes after the Kalshya dongar has to be ascended. The
climb has rock crumbling and lot of scree with dangerous patches in between.
After this tricky ascent, one joins the Tolar khind route after the rock patch.

From Pachnai

Grade- Simple

Rajur/Kotul- Pachnai– Harishchandragad

Pachnai is the simplest route to Harishchandragad and absolutely
recommended for anyone of any age. From the Pachnai village, it takes around 2-2.5
hours to reach Harishchandragad. A guide is available at the Pachnai village if
required.

From Kothale

Grade- Moderate

Kotul- Kothale– Bahiroba fort- Tolarkhind-Harishchandragad

Pachnai is the simplest route to Harishchandragad and absolutely
recommended for anyone of any age. From the Pachnai village, it takes around 2-2.5
hours to reach Harishchandragad. A guide is available at the Pachnai village if
required.

From Kotul transport facility available till Kothale. From Kothale
trail strat towards Tolar khind,  one has
to take walk around bhairoba fort towards Tolarkhind.  


From Nalichi Vaat

Grade- Difficult

Belpada- Left Nali of Kokankada – Way to Sadhale ghat –
Harishchandragad

Nalichivaat is started from Belpada village it is base village of
kokankada. Its most difficult rout to Harishchandragad. To the left of Konkan
Kada are 3-4 channels that come down from the top. The channel to the extreme
left is the Nalichi vaat. Here, trekking gear is required to ascend the
rock patches as sometimes there is no slit available for having a grip. Hence,
route is recommended strictly for the experienced trekkers.

This trek took total 10 to 15
hours. This rout will be joining to the sadle ghat way of Harishchandragad.

From Sadhle Ghat

Grade- Moderate

Belpada- Kelewadi – Sadhale Ghat – Harishchandragad

Trek is started from Belpada village to the Kelewadi village. From
Kelewadi steep slope of Sadhle Ghat brings you on the top. Sadhle ghat is
oldest trade route for local villagers.
